Alex Papps als Nick Cardaci

 

Alex Papps wurde am 11. Februar 1969 geboren. Sein Vater ist Grieche und seine Mutter Engländerin. Beide Eltern sind Lehrer und in ihrer Freizeit beschäftigen  sie sich mit Amateurtheater. So kam es, dass Alex von seinen Eltern voll unter- stützt wurde, als er den Wunsch hatte, Schauspieler zu werden.

Schon mit 7 Jahren spielte er seine erste Rolle. Mit 16 war er in der Jugendserie “The Henderson Kids” als Vince Cerantoni dabei. Für diese Rolle zog er nach Sydney, obwohl er in der Nähe von Melbourne zu Hause ist. Neben seiner schau- spielerischen Tätigkeit studierte er in Melbourne an der Monash Universität  Kunst und Politik. In der TV-Show “The Factory” war er Co-Moderator, bevor sein schauspielerischer Durchbruch mit der Serie “Home and away” kam. In dieser Serie spielte er von 1988 bis 1992 die Rolle des Frank Morgan. Diese Serientätigkeit wurde von 1989 bis 1990 unterbrochen, da man ihn für die Rolle des Nick Cardaci in die so beliebte Serie “The Flying Doctors” nahm. Eigentlich sollte aus ihm und Schwester Annie ein Paar werden. Aber soweit kam es nicht, da beide Schauspieler aus der Serie ausschieden. Alex kehrte noch einmal für 4 Folgen in die Serie “Home and away” zurück.

Alex` große Liebe ist das Theater. Er war schon in vielen Rollen in den ver- schiedensten Theatern zu sehen und auch in Musicals. Schon als Student spielte   er in vielen Studentenproduktionen mit. Er graduierte 1995 bei W.A.A.P.A. in seiner Schauspielausbildung. 1988 erhielt Alex Papps den Logie Award als bestes Nachwuchstalent in Australien. Sein größter Filmerfolg ist der 1998 ge- drehte Spielfilm “Head on” (“Kopfüber”). Es ist sein Filmdebüt in einem der größten unabhängigen Filme dieses Jahres in Australien gewesen. In 2001 spielte er als Ben Lawrence in “Star Quality”, in der Serie “The Saddle Club”. 2002  war er im australischen Fernsehen in “MDA” als Dr. Hamish McGregor zu sehen, in “Damned if you do” und  2002 stellte er sich wieder als Frank Morgan in der Serie “Home and away” vor.

Alex ist nicht froh darüber, dass er in Australien so bekannt ist. Er liebt es näm- lich überall unauffällig einzukaufen und seinen Engagements, wie für den Umwelt- schutz, nachgehen zu können. In 2006 war er endlich mal wieder als Anthony in  “Five moments of infidelity” zu sehen. “City Homicide” war ein großes Treffen unserer Fly-Doc-Actors. Auch Alex sah man darin 2008 als Superintendant Campell Harland. Weiterhin interessant für Alex ist auch “Play School”.

Alex ist 2010 Drehbuchautor für eine Folge der TV-Serie “Home and away”. 2012 war er in der Rolle des William Hobbs in der TV-Serie “Australia on Trial” zu sehen - an seiner Seite Brett Climo.

Zusammen mit Abi Tucker war  Alex 2012 für die “Play School”-Live Konzerte on Tour. In sechseinhalb Jahren war Alex bereits fünf mal mit der Show landes- weit auf Tour gewesen. “Es ist fantastisch. Eine großartige Gelegenheit für die Moderatoren, die Kinder und Familien zu treffen, die die Show sehen.” sagt er. “Man kann die Live- Atmosphäre nicht schlagen.”

Alex Papps was born on February 11th, 1969. His father is Greek and his mother Englishwoman. Teachers are both parents and they employ themselves in her leisure time with amateur theatre. So it came that Alex was supported fully by    its parents when he had the desire to become an actor.

Already with 7 years he played his first role. With 16 he was in the youth series "The Henderson Kids" as Vince Cerantoni with them. But by it it did not come since both actors left the series. Alex returned for 4 episodes in the series "Home and away" once again.

His great love is the theatre. He already could be seen in many roles in all sorts  of theatres and also in musicals. Already as a student he joined in in many student productions. He graduated 1995 at W.A.A.P.A. in his dramatic training. Alex Papps got the Logie Award as the best up-coming talent in Australia in 1988. His greatest film success is the feature film "Head on" ("Kopfüber") shot in 1998.      It has been his film debut in Australia in one of the biggest independent films of this year. He played in 2001 as Ben Lawrence in "Star Quality". One could see him in the series "The Saddle Club". Alex is not glad that he is so well known in Australia. He loves to shop every- where unobtrusively and to be able to follow his engagements, as for the environ- mental protection. He was as Anthony into "Five moment of infidelity" to see in 2006 finally again. A great meeting of our Fly Doc Actors was "City Homicide". One looked also Alex into it 2008 as super director Campell Harland. "Play School" is also furthermore interesting for Alex.

2010 Alex worked as screenwriter for an episode of the series “Home and away”. In 2012 Alex was seen in the role of William Hobbs in the TV series "Australia on Trial" - at his side Brett Climo.

Together with Abi Tucker was Alex 2012 on the "Play School" live concert tour. In six and a half years, Alex was already five times with the show country-wide  on tour. "It's fantastic. It's a great opportunity for presenters to meet the kids and the families who watch the show," he says. "You can't beat the live vibe."
