20 Jahre Fanclub

Rückblicke und Ausblicke

Rückblick - So fing alles an!

20 Years Fanclub

Review - How it all began!

In the early 90s, a car accident occurred at an intersection somewhere in Leverkusen. A fully loaded coal truck drove unrestrained in a car. This car had followed his trunk in the rear seats. A bit of luck and a guardian angel accompanied the driver because she suffered only a whiplash injury and thoracic compression. Thus it has been drawn just six months out of the job.

The good side of it was that at that time the Australian series "The Flying Doctors" was broadcast on German television. Thus, the audience of the TV increased rapidly. The victim got as Australia enthusiasts the episode 86 “Bruderzwist - Family Secrets Part II”, and witnessed the constantly moaning, bleating nurse Kate Wellings. By remarking: “She must have also positive aspects, otherwise there is no doctor who would interest for her. So I look on at this hurly-hurly episodes”. Most importantly, however, was to know what is behind this RFDS. Thus began the contact with Crawford in Melbourne and the great interest in "real" Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia.

AND! In early 1995 took place in Bielefeld a fundraiser, called by the Dutch RFDS Fanclub Astrid Esders into life, instead. The star guests were the series actor Lenore      Smith played Kate Wellings and Lewis Fitz-Gerald was seen as the pilot David Gibson.

AND! At this event many German grumbled about the fact that there would be a Dutch   and English Fanclub, Germany was going away empty-handed.

AND! There came fans together which said we can try it.

AND! On 05 August 1995, this fans were reunited in the Bielefeld Hotel and founded the German RFDS Fanclub, who had gained a foothold after a short time.

The car driver was now moved for professional reasons in Karlsruhe was soon the sole remnant of the founding fans. She tapped the club issue articles in an ordinary typewriter, then lay down later to an electric, walked cheerfully in a copy shop and put there the issues together.

Amazing, what can one animate for the RFDS.

Only after moving to Münster she got into the Internet. A copier she had also risen. But the Fanbooks remained a leaf by leaf employment. Who was, who is this car-driver? She would have lost the bet that the club would have only two or maybe three year’s permanence. Now, Renate that would had been a wonderful donation for the RFDS.

AND! The annual meetings should give all the fans across Germany the opportunity to participate. So they met in Dortmund, Jena, Münster, Karlsruhe. Unfortunately Ettlingen stood on the cancellation list because until the registration date the fan numbers are not enough. Since 14 years the meeting point is on the last Saturday in August Münster.

AND! Renate said in the course of time not only in Crawford Hello, she attended to all actors’ management and made their club publicity. She met with Lenore Smith, was always a welcome guest at Val Jellay, Robert Grubb, Terry Gill and Andrew McFarlane. More particularly she was welcome with open arms at the RFDS Sydney Council and Marketing, the base in Alice Springs and in Broken Hill, where the meeting donations have been going.

Sagenhaft!!!

Und! Renate kann es immer noch nicht glauben.

AND! Over the years, a team strengthened to Renate, who no longer can made it alone.     She was happy that she could burn the club issue after the completion of a DVD because Daniela took over the issue pressure which was at the beginning also a leaf by leaf employment and she posted the books too. Daniela is also aside by Renate at the annual club meetings. Big thank you! Berti provided with their club website for international distribution. Alex is now entered in their footsteps. Great!

AND! For the meetings we must need program points. Reports on the real RFDS, about Dreamland Australia, puzzles, by choise dinner together, items offered by the present Australian store to buy, whereat Erika and Norbert call the shots, raffle, and auction where already the next generation moves forward, and more. Martina took over the compilation of the 150 raffle prizes, because after 15 years. Renate went out of ideas slowly. Excellent!

This happened Renate with the puzzles, which Ute tense brings over. Educational! What would make Renate, she would not have the hobby engineer Thomas. She would be badly off.

AND! The RFDS let grip three generations actively for the Club.

To ALL our supporters a very big THANK YOU !!!!

Where is the annual meeting at home? It already lives 15 years in Dorint / Mercure Hotel in Münster, because this house has taken the side of the RFDS supporters. 50% of the room cost goes to the RFDS donation. Unbelievable !!! Since 2002, the Uluru Australian Centre is a major fixture at our annual meetings. Stephan Reiners support the RFDS club through his 20% donated of the sales-input! Fabulous !!!

AND! Renate still cannot believe it !!!

Future prospects - Time for a change

20 years ago Renate founded the club .....  and  today ???

After 19 years of RFDS support a base-exchange was again necessary. Queensland's largest base Cairns, whose region is hit repeatedly by bad weather disasters, is the new Club Base   for indefinite periods.

15 years was our annual club meetings was at home at the Mercure Hotel Münster and was very supportive of this business. At the end of this year, unfortunately, it closes the gates.

Renate has a new "home" sought and found. The Community Centre Münster "Bennohaus" gladly takes us on from 27th August 2016.
