The Australian TV series "The Flying Doctors" was produced in arrangement with   the really existing organisation RFDS and therefore is very realistic. The life in the Australian Outback is that way as the series represents it. Of course the romances are invented freely.

Altogether 227 episodes, 6 episodes as a mini-series under the title "Coopers Crossing" and 221 as "Flying Doctors" episodes, arose from Crawford Productions and Nine Network between 1984 and 1992. In these 227 episodes the patients in the Outback or in the hospital of Coopers Crossing were provided and be treated. From all actors only Val Jellay and Maurie Fields took part until end, numerous other ones disappeared without any explanation from the series.

The place Coopers Crossing consists of the three little villages of Minyip, Murtoa   and Rupanyup. The series was published to Lancefield later since the journeys got   too far and too expensive to Minyip. Lancefield is only one hour remote of Melbourne, Minyip for almost 5 hours. Coopers Crossing is in the series near Broken Hill in the state of New South Wales. The three little villages, however, be in the Dunkunkle- District in the sate of Victoria, in which the also fascinating arose.

The city of Broken Hill, about one flight hour of Adelaide removed, actually exists  and is one of the last "civilized" contact points before it comes into the interminably far and hot Australian Outback.
